TALENTED Prestwick teenager Darren Weir is hoping to steer Scotland to major glory in a major competition after some recent near misses.

Darren (18) has been called up by Scotland to line up in the Under-25 Home Internationals in Country Antrim, Northern Ireland on February 17 and 18.

He said: "This is my first call-up for the event. I hear we have been runners-up for the last couple of years, hopefully we can win it his time around."

It has been a great year for Darren, who last month reached the finals of the British Masters.
