A DISQUALIFIED driver from Tarbolton, was caught out by police when he jumped behind the wheel of a van.
Christopher Dibden, of Fail Avenue, owned up to driving on the B743 near Afton Lodge, Mossblown in September this year without a licence or insurance.
The 35-year-old appeared, from custody, before Sheriff Mhari Mactaggart at Ayr Sheriff Court last week. The court heard how the incident happened at 9.45am when the road was quiet.
Depute Fiscal Lorri Pidgeon, said: "Police were out on patrol when they observed the accused's vehicle and followed it.
"They saw the can take a left turn and followed him into a nearby field. They discovered that Dibden was disqualified."
Speaking on his behalf, defence solicitor, Derek Pettigrew, said: "Mr Dibden is 35-years-old and clearly has a large record. It is apparent that part of his life is behind him.
"But he has been caught offending with his driving. He will be in custody until December 17, this year."
Dibden has been released on bail and his sentence has been deferred.
