SOUTH Ayrshire Life, a new online service, packed with up-to-date information on the events in towns and villages has launched.

Supporting the service is a new town centre shop at 57 Newmarket Street, Ayr, which was officially opened on Friday, October 27 by Tim Eltringham, Director of South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership.

Mr Eltringham said: “I am delighted to be helping launch this great new resource and I believe South Ayrshire Life will be an invaluable aid in promoting health and wellbeing in our local communities.”

A team from Voluntary Action South Ayrshire (VASA) have been on the road for the past seven months gathering details of community groups and organisations from Ballantrae to Dundonald for the new website
VASA chief executive officer Marie Oliver is confident there’s something for everyone on South Ayrshire Life.

Marie said: “There are so many great things going on in South Ayrshire and this new website lets groups promote what they do and lets local people of all ages find out how they can get involved.

“Whether it’s walking football, knit and natter, kids’ groups, sport, money advice or community transport, simply put in your postcode and all will be revealed.”

People who don’t have internet access won’t be left out as a special South Ayrshire Life Freephone helpline has been set up.

Marie added: “There’s also a wealth of information in our shop in Newmarket Street so why not pop in and chat with our friendly staff member who’ll be happy to help you find out about all the groups, activities and services near you.”

Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Women’s Aid, the Sensory Impairment Support Group, South Ayrshire Dementia Support Association, the National Autistic Society, SeAscape and Home Energy Scotland are already booked in for regular drop-ins at the centre.
