THE fireworks display at Ayr Racecourse, to raise money for Malcolm Sargent House have been postponed.

The event was expected to take place tomorrow, Friday, November 3 but has been rescheduled for Friday, November 10.

Posting on their Facebook page, the group said: "We are deeply disappointed to announce that the Charity Fireworks Night to be held on Friday, November  3 at Ayr Racecourse has been cancelled.

"It was a shock to us too! The charity was notified by Ayr Racecourse this afternoon. The charity is extremely sorry as this was going to be a hugely successful night and we had sold loads of tickets within the community.

"As you know, all money raised was going to charity therefore we will be rescheduling our Fireworks Night."

Those who want to attend on Friday, November 10 should keep their tickets for entry and those who need a refund should get in touch by email - buymsh@gmail.com.

The event has been cancelled due to the welfare of the horses as races take place on Saturday.

Ian Ferguson, Ayr Racecourse, said: "Unfortunately the Fireworks Display to raise funds for the BUYMSH charity at Ayr Racecourse tomorrow night has had to be cancelled.

"This follows concerns raised by members of the racing community over the welfare of horses in the racecourse stables prior to racing on Saturday.

"Due to the revised starting time of 12.25pm on Saturday horses would be arriving earlier than normal on Friday night.

"In light of this the decision was taken by Ayr racecourse to cancel the event.

"The Racecourse and BUYMSH wish to apologise to BUYMSH for any inconvenience caused and hope to be able to stage an event in the coming weeks to aid the charity."
