GIRVAN Town House could be used as a counselling facility for residents of Girvan and South Carrick.
It is hoped ‘Front Door Services’ can be created in Girvan and the doctor’s surgery in Ballantrae which would allow those who feel they need to speak to someone, do so without being questioned by the public.
Irene Climie, explained: “These are neutral locations. If someone is seen entering the Town House it is not suspicious as there are so many organisations within.
“This means members of the public cannot identify what department someone is going to in the Town House. We have a lot of rooms in here to be used as a surgery. It will be discrete.”
Using the doctors surgery in Ballantrae has also been described as a ‘neutral’ location.
Irene continued: “The Locality Planning Group have suggested Ballantrae Doctor’s Surgery as another potential location for the front door service.
“Everyone goes to the doctors surgery and it is not clear why you are going. If this group was held in a church hall then it would become obvious why people were going.
“It is only an idea right now could work if people thought it was possible.”
Girvan and South Carrick Locality Planning work to improve the health and social care of the town as well as Dailly, Barr, Colmonell, Lendalfoot, Ballantrae, Barrhill and Pinmore.
The group meet on the second Wednesday of the month to discuss the issues.
