A THUG who tuned up at his ex partner's home, 'to confront her new boyfriend', in Tarbolton, brandishing a knife has been caged.

Cameron Horne, 22, of Church Court, Ayr showed up at the house on Sandgate Street in June this year with the blade and a bottle before making threatening remarks to three other men.

Horne pushed his ex on her body before punching one of the witnesses on the head, sitting on top of him and pinning him to the ground.

He punched another man on the body and head, injuring him. The 25-year-old owned up to carrying the weapon without lawful authority.

The 22-year-old appeared from custody before Sheriff Desmond Leslie at Ayr Sheriff Court last year. The court heard how he had been remanded since June 27.

Depute Fiscal Andrew Lazzarin explained: "It seems that the accused had been in a relationship with the complainer for two and a half years.

"At 10.30pm the complainer was in her home when she heard a knock at the door. She discovered it was Horne and contacted her friend.

"Her friend and another witness attended the house and saw Horne climb out of the garden. The friend went to speak to him about why he had come to the woman's door.

"Horne stated that he was there to confront her new boyfriend and produced a knife in his left hand. He held a buck fast bottle in the other hand before calling them mother f***ers.

"The woman spoke to Horne to try and get him to calm down. The witnesses went into the house and Horne returned to the door. He still had a knife in his hand.

"He was asked to put it down and he threw it onto the grass. Another man arrived at the house and found the three witnesses arguing with Horne.

"The woman had been pushed. The man who had just arrived spoke to Horne who punched him. The third witness punched him back.

"Police attended a short time later and were told that the accused was hiding in the garden. Officers went to look for him and he started hurdling fences.

"Horne was arrested. When questioned he said 'I didnae have a blade and I was getting attacked'. "

Mr Lazzarin continued: "The knife was not recovered. Witnesses said that they thought Horne had picked it up and disregarded it during the chase."

Speaking on his behalf, defence solicitor Steven Maxwell, said: "He does not think he would be able to complete a community payback back order."

Sheriff Leslie said: "The terror this caused tells me a CPO is not appropriate."

Mr Maxwell said: "I invite you to review a sentence which I think is inevitable."

Horne has been jailed for eight months.
