RESIDENTS and staff at a Prestwick care home are putting their best foot forward for the Ayr Running Festival.
Four residents from Hansel’s Shawburn Care Home, accompanied by four staff members, are lying their heart and soles into preparations for the Ayr Running Festival this weekend.
All their proceeds made will go to the residential home, which supports nine people to live an active life in the local community.
Lorna Parker, Shawburn’s service manager, said: “We have always tried to encourage our residents to walk and enjoy a good diet
“But this event has really helped to motivate people.
“The residents supported by staff have been doing various walks to Sainsbury’s and down to the beach to make sure residents are prepared for the distance.
“Some of our residents have lost a few pounds already and everyone is very excited about the race.
“We have launched a just giving page with the money raised going towards some of the items on the residents’ wish-list including a new fish tank and stand for the lounge.”
“It would be so lovely for the residents if we could meet our fundraising target of £750.”
