AN AYR panto star and the Scot-Squad cop team are on their way to Ayr Gaiety to solve murders.

Actor Kenny Boyle and his team will be back next week with a brand new murder mystery in their show “Can you catch the Killer”?

They have been performing at The Gaiety since it reopened a few years ago.

Kenny said: “We try and make the mysteries as hard as possible to solve but people in Ayr are too good. We have deliberately made this one as ridiculously difficult as possible.

“This month’s show is is cowboy themed and it will be really tricky. We actively encourage the audience to dress up, get involved and ask questions.

“The team that wins will receive as certificate for being the best and the team that loses will get a certificate for being the most entertaining.”

The murder mystery style event has become a staple at the Ayr Gaiety and this show is called “At Least Five Ways to Die in the Wild West”.

But Boyle isn’t alone. Joining him in the cast is Scot-Squad favourite Karen Bartke, better known as Officer Karen the long suffering police officer hounded constantly at her place of work by the well-meaning Bobby.

Joining Bartke and Boyle is John Love who has made appearances in Outlander among and a host of other shows.

Anyone who saw Boyle’s performance as Chancellor Pratt at the Gaiety will know about his love of word play and puns, and he promises there will be plenty of that in this show as well telling us “it’s a hilarious script, full of terrible puns mixed with some real clever wit and a plot that is really intricate, but still a lot of fun.”

But don’t think for a minute that you’ll get to just sit back the whole time and watch the performance.

Kenny added: “The true joy of ‘Can You Catch the Killer?’ is that the audience become detectives and get to interrogate each of us in turn to see if they can figure out which of us is the killer.

“It’s amazing the questions we get asked and some audiences get very competitive, but win or lose everyone always leaves happy.”

“At least Five Ways to Die in the West” will be on at the Ayr Gaiety on August, 29 at 7:30pm and audience members who want to dress the part will be given an especially warm welcome.

Kenny, played panto-villain Chancellor Pratt in last year’s Snow White and is to appear again this year as an ugly sister in Cinderella.
