A HUGELY successful musical tribute evening has helped give the campaign to light up Troon this Christmas a massive boost.

Back in April, Live@Troon and Troon Business Association (TBA) co-hosted a fundraising event to help contribute towards the efforts of improving the town's Christmas lighting. This saw Take That tribute band Rule the World play to a full house at Troon Concert Hall.

Donna Read of TBA initially came up with the idea and approached new Live@Troon Chairman Colin Sinclair McDermott about helping bring the event together.

The evening fell just one week before the real Take That played the SEE Hydro so it was a great opportunity for those not lucky enough to get tickets for the main event to see the next best thing, the UK’s number one tribute.

More than 500 people attended the gig, supported by J & J Bars and Events, who laid on a spectacular Prosecco and Gin Bar and Troon Catering kept everyone well fed.

Live@Troon Chairman Colin said “One of my key remits from taking on the role was to get more involved with the local community and support projects just like this. I’m delighted the event was such a huge success."

The overall amount raised on the night was £3,000, which will be added to the pot Donna and the TBA are already building to improve on the town’s Christmas Lighting for 2017.

Following on from this success, Gary and the boys has been invited back again on March 17, 2018 however this time they will also be joined by a fourth member - their good friend Tony as Robbie Williams.
