A sporty Prestwick family are raring to go this weekend - as they represent Scotland in the first ever clash against England.

Gavin Craig and his dad David are due to turn out for their country in an Auld Enemy clash in FootGolf on Saturday.

The game is due to take place at the FootGolf course at Roseberry Grange Golf Club, which is between Newcastle and Durham.

FootGolf sees players have to complete an 18-hole course with 21-inch holes, using a size 5 football, in the least number of shots.

For Saturday's clash, each team has 16 players 12 males, 2 females and 2 over 45s.

The players will be paired off in to 16 one-versus-one tie, with the winner of each match - who will be the pkayer will the lowest score - receiving a point for their team.

Gavin is Captain of the team having finished last year's official Scottish FootGolf Tour as the country's number one player.

And his P.E. Teacher dad David qualified by winning the over 45s tour last year.

A delighted David, 55, who played his first FootGolf competition in April 2016, said: "I never dreamt I would have the chance to represent Scotland in a sport, especially at 55 years old!

"It's also an honour and privilege to be able to play in the same national team as my son, Gavin.

"There can't be many instances of a father and son representing their country in the same team in any sport.

"Whoever I play I will be determined to win a point for the team."

Captain Gavin, a Sales Assistant in Sainsbury's, is focused ahead of the match against England, who are captained by 2016 UK No 1, European No 3 and World No 5 Ben Clarke.

Gavin, 29, who has been playing for just over two years, said: "I am proud to be the Scotland captain and see it as a real honour.

"It will be a very tough match, but we will give it our best shot."
