WELLINGTON School in Ayr will extend their campus by taking over a house on Craigweil Road.

The property at number 3, sits between category B listed Craigweil House and category C listed Carton Turrets which are already used for lessons.

Planning permission was granted by South Ayrshire Council's regulatory panel last week who were informed the house on Craigweil Road would be used as classrooms.

Andrew Stewart, planning applicant, said: "We have been working on this proposal for a few years. This building would give us more space for facilities."

Patrick Lockwood, the school's governor, added: "This is an opportunity to consolidate the school and keep the children off the roads and get them from one block to another.

"I think there is a traffic scheme already in place on Craigweil Road and we are not looking to increase traffic."

The plans were approved by the panel.
