REPRESENTATIVES of various agencies joined students and staff for a Health Festival at Ayrshire College.
Two of the groups, NHS Ayrshire and Arran’s Fresh Ayrshire team and Ayrshire Sportsability were involved with the college’s Essential Skills department.
Their task was to help students with additional support needs to find out about assistance available in the region
Outdoor activities on the day included wellbeing workshops from Well Happy Life; rugby taster sessions from Trust Rugby International and a game of football on the college’s state-of the-art pitches.
Sports students and some former students who are now qualified, assisted on the day, which was a great success.
Dianne Campbell, Ayrshire Sportsability co-ordinator, said: “It’s really important for the students to take part in sport because it promotes their wellbeing, their health and fitness, and it’s a chance to meet people as well. Everyone looked like they were enjoying taking part, it was a great day.”
Chris Boyce, Essential Skills Lecturer, added: “Our students had a fantastic time engaging with the activities and stalls available on the day.
“Partners involved have all worked with our students this year and provided positive experiences.
“It has been our intention to promote health, raise awareness and empower students to make positive choices.
“My hope is that with our work this year and our end of year festival, we have achieved that.”
