The new coalition of South Ayrshire - comprising Labour, SNP and Independent members - say they are now looking forward to improving Ayr and it’s surrounding towns and villages, including Troon and Prestwick.
The new leader of South Ayrshire Council Douglas Campbell, is hoping to make Troon and Prestwick more vibrant and appealing, not just to locals but tourists as well.
He said: “We want to make sure that our towns and villages are vibrant and for each of the towns to bring open opportunities.
“With Troon and its harbour, water sports is a big opportunity and it would get people to do more.
“Luckily we have the airport in Prestwick and we will support the spaceport that the airport it working towards.
“The development team that we have for the town will work with this for jobs and investments.”
The council believes that South Ayrshire needs to work in a complimentary way, and tourists need to know what is here in each of the areas.
