GIRVAN residents could have the opportunity to work in partnership with the RSPB in a bid to save nature.

New council bosses are keen to set up links with the charity who are actively seeking to work with towns and villages in a bid to improve wildlife value.

RSPB had wanted to establish a partnership with Girvan but this idea was thrown out.

It is now hoped this decision can be overlooked and the parties can move forward together.

South Ayrshire Council Leader Douglas Campbell, said: “We want to build links with the RSPB.

“They had wanted to do this in the past but the former council rejected this idea.

“It was really disappointing that links were not made before but now we want to re-establish contact with them so we can work together. “
Reserves are at the heart of the RSPB’s work and allow the public to get close to nature.

They aim to dramatically increase the land they own and manage over the next 15 years with the ambition to double
their number of land-holdings by 2030.
