A NEWLY-established South Ayrshire youth football team continue to move from strength to strength.

And Troon FC 2004s, now with 15 to 16 players in their ranks, have secured a training pitch at Fullarton Woods, courtesy of South Ayrshire Council.

Troon Councillor Peter Convery confirmed the news at a recent meeting of Troon Community Council.

This, say team representatives is "a much-welcomed training facility for the club.

The team, who are the first Academy side to be set up by Troon FC, recently took part in a friendly against Valspar in Alloway, which they won after scoring a large number of goals. This, 2004s coaches say is a "testimony to the hard work the lads have been putting into their training, considering the short time they have been together as a team".

Troon FC 2004s would like to see more local boys and girls attend training nights. Any boy or girl born in 2004 who would like a challenge is welcome to join the club on Thursdays, from 6.30pm until 8pm and Saturdays, from 10am until noon.

The club are are also in the process of sourcing sponsors to provide the team with their strips and training gear and registering with the West of Scotland Youth Football League.
