CHIRMORIE windfarm developers have agreed to remove one of the 22 planned turbines from the site.

This follows a visit to the area from South Ayrshire Council after a construction worker tragically lost his life at Kilgallioch development. Environmental information has been the Scottish Government.

Stewart Forsyth, of Coriolis Energy, visited the Barrhill Community Council recently. He commenced by stating stating Coriolis’ condolences on the death of the worker at the Kilgallioch Windfarm construction site.

As part of the plan a construction liaison group will be formed, involving local residents, which would deal with all information and queries.

Chirmorie Windfarm have accepted a grid offer to connect to the Mark Hill substation, sharing infrastructure with the planned Stranoch Windfarm.

Determination is expected in summer 2017 and a further update will be provided when the decision has been made.

A member of the public, whose property is surrounded by turbines to what they say is detrimental effect, queried why Coriolis had made no attempts to communicate with those most affected by the proposals.

They said they showed no consideration to these residents, who are not even mentioned in the further environment information.

She informed that her own property is affected by noise and vibration from the windfarms already in operation.

Mr Forsyth replied that noise calculations had been carried out, which met required standards. Andrew Sinclair enquired about shared ownership—it appears that Coriolis have assessed this but are not committed to it.
