WORK is being carried out to repair Belleisle Estate and House.

The project includes upgrading, repair and new work to many areas which will see the replacement of old damaged paths with hard whin finish.

With construction now under way, it is hoped it will be completed by the summer. Other developments being considered are the stepped area at the conservatory, improving entrances and upgrading the sun dial area.

Consultancy arrangements for the re-surfacing work to the main car park and driveway is complete and the operations should be completed by the summer.

Reinstatement work to the pillars at the entrance to the estate from Doonfoot Road will be carried out following completion of the resurfacing works.

Any accidental damage to the pillars during the work will be attended to after all heavy vehicles are off site. The installation of a fountain many also be considered. 

Shona Munro, Belleisle Estate Project Officer, of South Ayrshire Council, told members of the Alloway and Doonfoot community council: "Heritage Lottery Funding has been approved for the new development proposals to the stable block and it is hoped that will be completed by summer 2018."

Ms Munro also added that the council were aware of the need for the provision of toilet facilities in the children's play area, animal and conservatory.

She continued: "We are aware of need for these facilities, however further consideration is required on sitting position relating to waste and water services."

It is also hoped that Campbell Inns and South Ayrshire Council will be able to finalise outstanding issues relating to parking and a view to recommencing work on the hotel by late summer.
