VOLUNTARY Action South Ayrshire (VASA) urgently needs new Board Members to support development and plan strategically for the years ahead.

VASA is the voice of the Third Sector, who, support and represent charities, community groups and voluntary organisations across South Ayrshire.

They want to add a few more enthusiastic individuals to their network, just one evening a month, to create a vibrant, sustainable and cohesive environment, which is increasingly playing a vital role in what many feel are times of austerity.

Marie Oliver, said: "As the demands of the sector grow, we would very much welcome those from a wide range of discipline. In return, you will be making a genuine contribution to the local community, as well as becoming part of a growing network of professionals working in the sector."

If anyone would like more information they should contact Marie on 07889 405 021.

For the fifth year in a row, VASA will be presenting the South Ayrshire Volunteer Awards to celebrate those who make a massive difference to the loves of local communities and there is still time to nominate your favourite to win.

The award categories include, Lifetime Achievement, for those who have volunteered for 15 years and above, the Community Champion, for an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to their community and Volunteer Friendly, an award for an organisation to recognise groups that have achieved this nationally recognised quality standard when working with volunteers.

The ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 15 at the Balgarth Pines, on Dunure Road at 7pm.
