SOUTH Ayrshire WASPI's joined forces with others campaigners in the group at their first rally in Kilmarnock on Saturday.
The large group of women were led by community Samba band, Sumwummindrummen and created a loud presence to help raise awareness of 1950`s born women that have had their state pension age changed with little or no notice given.
At the heart of the demonstration, on April 22, were speeches from invited MP`s and MSP`s from both Labour and the SNP parties. Dr.Phillipa Whitford MP, Patricia Gibson MSP, Jeane Freeman MSP, Colin Smyth MSP and Alan Brown MP gave rousing speeches encouraging the WASPI group to keep going with the campaign.
Corri Wilson MP was unable to attend due to illness, but Douglas Reid, Head of East Ayrshire Council also spoke in support of local WASPI women.
There will be a Scottish mass rally in Glasgow May 26 when Ayrshire WASPI`s will be in attendance again with their banners, whistles and posters making a noise.
Campaigners say they 'are not going away and will continue the fight for their hard worked for state pensions'. For more information visit; ayrshirewaspi@gmail.com
