TEMPORARY road closures, lane closures and temporary traffic lights are being put in place in Ayr, on April 24 for around eight months.

The road closures will be on a rolling programme on short stretches of streets between May and September, in High Street, between 7pm and 6am, and in New Market Street, Sandgate and at the junction of Carrick Avenue and Carrick Road.

The lane closures will be again on a rolling programme and from July to October, on stretches of the west-bound lanes of New Bridge Street, Sandgate, Fullarton Street, Alloway Street, Killoch Place and Carrick Road.

There will also be some temporary parking restrictions in place during some of this work.

Pedestrian access will not be affected by any of the road traffic management and all local businesses will be open as usual.

A spokesman for Scottish Water, said: "Scottish Water would like to thank affected road users, customers and businesses in advance for their patience and understanding while this essential investment in the water mains progresses."
