GIRVAN Town Team are looking to develop business links in the town and find supporters of the shop front scheme.

The project looks to improve the appearance of the ground floor frontages of commercial premises both occupied and vacant.

If funding is successful work can include minor repairs of shop windows, painting of shop entrances, sign writing, repair or replacement of signage boards and providing lights for shop window graphics.

It had been hoped that Ailsa Horizons and other local business contacts could take on this challenge, with agreed outcomes, to build on the momentum of the Shop Fronts Scheme.

But no progress was made on this priority due to the demise of Ailsa Horizons last year. The Town Team are now in contact with the What If... Girvan initiative to see if they can support the programme.

The group which are run by FirstPort want to make a difference in the South Carrick Area. They work with local people to inspire them to turn their ideas into businesses that transform their local area and benefit the wider community.

Girvan is also eligible for the Shop Fronts Improvement Grant from Ambition. Shop front works may require consents from South Ayrshire Council. For more information, visit their website.
