A MAN who stole handbags from TK Maxx worth £90 has been put behind bars.
Michael Jardine, of Charlotte Street admitted stealing the bags from to store on July, 15 last year.
The 39-year-old appeared from custody before Sheriff Mhari Mactaggart at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.
Depute Fiscal Scott Toal said: "£90 has now been recovered through CCTV. He told police it was nothing to do with him."
Speaking on his behalf, defence solicitor Glenn Davis said: "He is serving an eight month sentence and will be released in March.
"This was a crime born out of drug addiction. He recognises that because of his previous convictions he will be sentenced.
"I ask you to recognise the stage at which the plea was tendered and that he is in a much better place,
Jardine has been jailed for another 19 weeks.
