SCOTTISH Water have announced that road users in the Coylton are to become aware of road traffic management as they begin a project to upgrade waste water treatment works.

They will also be working to install new pipes, which will in turn aid protection of the environment.

The project will begin on the 23rd of January to enhance the Coylton (Joppa) Waste Water Treatment Works, and install 1.2 miles of new sewers within the area. The work will be carried out by contractors Efficient Service Delivery.

A spokesperson for Scottish Water has said: "The improvement work, which will benefit water quality in the Byres Burn and Water of Coyle, which flow into the River Ayr, is expected to be completed in about a year.

"To enable Scottish Water to carry out this work, some road traffic management will be required for the duration of the project."

The road traffic management entails an extension of approximately 200 metres of the existing 30mph speed limit on the A70 Ayr Road, to the west of Coylton, to near the junction with Westpark Farm Road end.
This forms part of a safety precaution, due to construction vehicles operating within this area.

The spokesperson continued: "The road traffic management, which has been arranged in liaison with Ayrshire Roads Alliance, will also include the use of temporary traffic lights on some minor roads nearby for shorter periods.

"Scottish Water thanks affected residents and road users, in advance of the road traffic management, for their patience and understanding. We will make every effort to minimise any inconvenience."
