A KILWINNING man who failed to provide a breath sample to police has been jailed.

Barry McLeod, of Smith Crescent, committed the offences at Saltcoats Police Office on November 26.

The 30-year-old firstly admitted making homophobic remarks to officers at the charge bar.

McLeod thereafter failed to provide two specimens of breath to ascertain whether or not he was fit to drive.

He was stopped by police while driving on the A78 near Eglinton Interchange.

At Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week, McLeod pleaded guilty to the offences.

McLeod was sentenced to five months in prison.
