CONSERVATIVE Prestwick councillor Hugh Hunter has praised the newly proposed parliamentary boundary changes.
Under the plans, Patna and Dalmellington would move to the new Kilmarnock, Cumnock and Doon Valley constituency, Troon and Prestwick would move from Central Ayrshire, currently represented by Dr. Philippa Whitford.
It is thought that the Central Ayrshire constituency would be carved and Prestwick & Troon would join the Ayr & Carrick constituency instead of being paired with towns in North Ayrshire and Cllr Hugh Hunter was happy to see the towns return to the fold.
He said: "I'm delighted that common sense has prevailed.
"Prestwick and Troon being paired up with Irvine made no sense. Good to see us back with the family. I welcome this boundary commission report."
The debate took place at County Hall on Thursday, December 15 as South Ayrshire Council held their final full meeting before the Christmas break.
