AYR Racecourse is going the extra mile for the 2016 Scottish Poppy Appeal by once again lighting up red.
The five-star visitor attraction and premier racing venue will glow poppy red every night until Remembrance Sunday to raise awareness of the annual fundraising campaign run by the leading charity Poppyscotland.
Gordon Michie, Head of Fundraising from Poppyscotland, said:
“We are delighted that Ayr Racecourse is once again lighting up red for the Scottish Poppy Appeal. We hope that when people see it glowing red they will think about ways that they too can go the extra mile in their support for this year’s Poppy Appeal.
"Whether it’s putting a little bit more in the poppy tin, or doing something completely different to raise money, every penny helps us to offer life-changing support so we can be there when they call for backup.”
David Brown, Ayr Racecourse Managing Director, said :
“We have a long standing relationship with Poppyscotland and were delighted to be involved last year and pleased to be asked to ‘light up’ again this year. This lighting creates a very powerful visual image.
"It’s very dramatic to see the main entrance of the Racecourse lit in red. I hope this initiative helps Poppyscotland raise even more money for their appeal.”
