A MYSTERY letter, claiming to be from the Alloway and Doonfoot community council, telling residents to repair their front wall has been circling the area.
This comes after the 'council' asked the owner of the Loaning Shop to repair the forecourt, which they felt to be a safety and tripping hazard. Advice has been taken and work carried out.
Speaking at a public meeting last week, Chairman of the community council, Peter Hall said: "One of the customers of the Loaning shop said that the community council sent her a letter telling her to carry out repairs at the front of her property.
"This is concerning. Noone has seen this letter but they are all talking about it. The recipient is about 90-years-old and she showed it to the shop owner when she was making a delivery.
"The letter told her to fix her wall. What people need to know is that we are not sending out letters saying that we are making instructions that work is being done.
"We want residents to beware of imitations."
