A MAN has died on Monday morning after his car smashed into a tree near the Dutch House Roundabout at Monkton on Sunday night.

The incident happened just after 11:20pm on Sunday, October 16. The man was also accompanied by a dog in the car as it collided with a tree as he was then trapped in the vehicle.

When emergency services arrived at the scene the man was unresponsive in his vehicle. According to reports, the individual was subject to CPR while waiting on the arrival of an ambulance.

Fire services then searched the area to make sure no other people were hurt in the collision as paramedics continued CPR.

The man later died on Monday morning.

Station manager Derek Davidson said: "This was a single car involved with an adult male driver involved who was also carrying a dog within the car. His vehicle collided with a tree and as such the individual became trapped within the wreckage.”

He continued: "This was one of three serious road traffic collisions on Ayrshire roads this weekend two of which resulted in fatalities. Both of those resulting in fatal consequences were adult male drivers and single vehicle collisions.

The dog in the vehicle was handed over to Police Scotland. At this time, Police Scotland have released no information on who the man was at this time.
