THE route from Doonfoot to Maybole has become infested with dog poo bags due to the lack of bins along the path.
Cllr Allan Dorans raised his concerns at the Alloway and Doonfoot community council meeting last Tuesday night.
He said: "It is a lovely 50 minute walk between to two locations. The other day I noticed bags of dog poo left by the side of the road but there were no bins at the side of the track.
"This is an issue that needs to be re-addressed so we can manage this. I will be raising this with the waste management department. There is one bin at Corton Lee and one bin at Mongoes Well."
Cllr Bill Grant added: "They can certainly carry it to the bins but they just throw it away. I think they are going to abandon the red bins so dog owners can use the ordinary one."
Cllr Dorans went on: "I have a meeting with the chief inspector who wants to come to the community council to increase police presence."
He concluded that he would raise the issue of dog fowling with the appropriate department.
