AFTER the housing developments at Lochside proved to be a success plans for new neighbourhoods in Ayr and Girvan are on the cards.

In a bid to address homelessness South Ayrshire Council have set out plans for new homes over the next five years and want the public to have their say on the strategy before it goes for formal adoption in December.

Over the last year, they have been working with tenants, residents and local service providers to develop the 2017-2022 strategy.

Late last year, discussion sessions with the public took place in the main towns across South Ayrshire. Two final drop-in events in Ayr and Girvan will run this month to get public views on the set proposals.

The first event will take place on Wednesday, September 21 at Ayr Town Hall, New Bridge Street, from 6pm to 8pm.

The second will take place on Wednesday, September 28 at Girvan Academy, from 6pm to 8pm. These will be drop in sessions which means those interested can pop in at any time.

Councillor Philip Saxton, Housing and Customer Services Portfolio Holder for the Council said: “We want to know what people think of our plans for housing and housing services in South Ayrshire.

"The Local Housing Strategy is relevant to those living in all types of housing so it’s important that we hear from as many people as possible.

"If you have an issue or an idea, please tell us before the strategy is set in stone for the next five years."

Those who can’t make it to a drop in event, can have a look at a draft version of the Local Housing Strategy at www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/housingstrategy/lhs/ and give your feedback.

Printed copies will also be available in customer service centres and libraries. For more information call the Council on 0300 123 0900 or email LHS@south-ayrshire.gov.uk.
