THE CAMPAIGN to save Malcolm Sargent House has attracted some high-profile support.

Ayr United gave a high profile backing for the ‘Buy Malcolm Sargent House’ campaign at their league game on Saturday.
And local MPs Dr Philippa Whitford and Corri Wilson also backed Friday’s ‘red’ efforts.

To support the Turn Ayrshire Red campaign for BuyMSH Ayr United played in their all red strip and fans tuned up wearing items of red.
The Official Ayr United and Ayr United Media pages also turned their mast heads red in support

DR Philippa Whitford, MP for Central Ayrshire, on Friday dressed in red to show her support for the #BUYMSH campaign.

Dr Whitford joined staff and children at Pinetrees Nursery and pupils at Prestwick Academy, who were also sporting red for the day, in support of the fundraising appeal to enable a local consortium to buy Malcolm Sargent House in Prestwick.

The group is hoping to take over MS House as an independent charity and continue the provision of holidays for children with life threatening conditions and their families. They require to raise almost £2million to purchase the facility but an initial £150,000 needs to be secured by the end of September as a deposit to ensure it is not put on the open market.

Dr Whitford, who is one of the project’s Ambassadors, said: “MS House has provided a wonderful service for many years and its closure is a huge loss both locally and nationally.

“It is held in such high regard by those who have used it and by the local community, which has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds over the years to support it.”

“I have met with representatives of the consortium and am extremely impressed at their ambition and determination for what is a major undertaking.

“I am honoured to have been asked to be an Ambassador for the new project and will, of course, continue to support their efforts as the campaign progresses. Meantime, donating to the cause and encouraging others to do similarly is the very least I can do.

“If you weren’t able to join in with ‘Wear it Red’ day but would like to donate, please go to http://www.buymsh.com to give what you can.”
Corri Wilson said: “Malcolm Sargent House has been part of the community here in Ayrshire for as long as I can remember, providing an invaluable service for families that are going through difficult times.

“I’ve been really pleased to see the community getting behind this bid to buy the house, and I hope today’s activities will increase that commitment.”
