PRESTWICK'S Veracity UK limited is just one on 32 Scottish companies which have been shortlisted for a business award.

The store which is situated on Prestwick's International Aerospace Park is up for a Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland (VIBES) Awards following a record number of entries.

Veracity is just on of the range of companies from across Scotland which have entered the 17th annual environmental award scheme which recognises and rewards the commitment, actions and achievements of Scottish companies working hard to reduce their impact on the environment.

The business, which specialises in the manufacture of innovative transmission, storage and display products for the security surveillance market, has been shortlisted in the Innovation and Environmental Product or Service Award categories.

Speaking about the nomination, Murray Bothwell, marketing communications manager, said: "We had been advised by our compliant manager that there was an opportunity to be involved in the VIBES.

"We had not heard about it before then but it has been running for a few years. We went onto the website, downloaded the information and realised it was very interesting.

"They wanted to know how we identified with the environment and how our products benefit society. We were delighted when we found out we were through to the final."

The company applied at the beginning of last month and found out they were successful on July 29. The awards ceremony takes place at the Radisson in Glasgow on November 8 with prizes varying from £10 to thousands of pounds.

Murray added: "We are the only one in the world that worked from the ground up."

Gillian Bruce, chair of the VIBES Awards, said: “It’s been a fantastic start to the 17th annual awards with a record number of entries keeping our judges busy.

"VIBES is dedicated to recognising companies which have taken significant steps to reducing their environmental impact so it’s extremely rewarding to see such a wide range of businesses sharing their great work with us."
