FOR the first time since the Scottish International Airshow started in 2014, the Lancaster, Hurricane and Spitfire will grace Ayrshire skies this September.

Organisers of the event are delighted to announce the aircrafts will be on display, as it has not be possible to do so until now, for various reasons.

But now Thumper the Lancaster is back in the air and will be coming to this year's show with her two friends, the Spitfire and the Hurricane.

Thumper was booked to appear at last year’s Scottish Airshow and was grounded after suffering a dramatic engine fire when flying in May last year.

The aircraft made an emergency landing and all the crew were safe. The repairs have taken longer than expected but she finally took to the air on from her base on Sunday, July 17 in the morning.

Thumper is one of only two Lancaters which are in flying condition. The other is Vera based in Canada.

Both Lancasters were booked to appear at the 2014 Scottish Airshow and had to cancel because of thick fog at their RAF Coningsby base. They finally landed at Prestwick airport the day after the Airshow display at the Low Green.

Street banners promoting the event have been spotted in and around Ayr. The Scottish International Airshow starts on Friday, September 2 and Saturday, September 3 at the Low Green, Ayr.

The Airshow is free to view but for there are comfort, premium and family tickets available for the best viewing and extra facilities at http://tsia.scot/store/.

All proceeds from ticket sales, including car parking and the unique photographers access to Prestwick Airport, go directly to fund these and more wonderful aeroplanes coming to the town.
