A PASSENGER has died in a road smash near Blairston Mains Farm on the back road from Ayr to Maybole on Sunday afternoon.

He was in the car, with four others, left the road and collided with a fence and a wall on Sunday, July 24 at 4.53pm, leaving another occupant of the vehicle with life changing injuries.

Fire crews from Ayr were dispatched to the scene and discovered three males, a 14, 15 and 21-year-old as well as two females aged 17 and 19, in the vehicle.

One male, who was a back seat passenger, lost his life at the scene of the incident.

Local Station Manager Derek Davidson said: "This is another terrible loss of life on Ayrshire’s roads and made all the more tragic by the fact that those involved were so young.

"There have been a number of serious road traffic collisions on the roads throughout East, North and South Ayrshire in recent months which have resulted in families losing loved ones.

"As always I would urge drivers to reduce speed, drive to suit the conditions and within their abilities which will assist in reducing unnecessary and preventable road deaths in the area.

"It’s better to arrive somewhere five minutes later than not at all."

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to offer condolences to those families involved.

Mr Davidson added: "Scottish Ambulance Service and Police Scotland attended and all three partner agencies worked together to assist the casualties.

"Unfortunately as a result of the collision and despite the best efforts of all agencies one male, lost his life at the scene of the incident and another suffered life changing injuries."
