A TROON benefits cheat has been rumbled after pocketing almost £6,000 that she wasn’t entitled to.
Lauren Wyllie, 25, from Gillies Street this week pleaded guilty to trousering the cash at Ayr Sheriff Court.
Between October 2013 and May 2015, Wyllie failed to notify South Ayrshire Council bosses of a change in her circumstances.
Wyllie claimed £5968 in Housing Benefits, despite the fact that she shared a home with her partner who was in employment.
Wyllie appeared before Sheriff Mhairi MacTaggart last week.
Sheriff MacTaggart told Wyllie: “Because of the nature of the charge to which you have pled guilty I’m going to call for a criminal justice social work report.
Sentence was deferred until next month.
