The Provost congratulated all the volunteers on their efforts and each received a VASA award recognising their work in the community.
The Kirkmichael Community Shop & Café came into community management around six years ago. It is now fully embedded as part of the village providing essential services to the community, tourists and travellers. There are no commercial retail wizards driving this business but through good will, hard work and sensible discussions the Shop & Café have come a long way.
The success of the Shop & Café would not have been possible without the generous and dedicated support of the local volunteer workforce. These people are villagers of all ages and from all parts of our community who give up their personal time to look after their customers. This is community spirit at its very best and the community is very grateful for their commitment.
As they look to the future, this volunteer team will be essential in developing new ideas and their engagement with all parts of the community will help bring these fresh ideas into reality.
