INSPIRATIONAL police volunteers across South Ayrshire were awarded for their hard work and dedication recently.

Recognition was given to volunteer officers at a special ceremony which took place on Friday, June 10 at Ayr Police Office.

Special Constable Corinne Clark, from Ayr, was recognised for taking the lead at an incident involving a man who was feeling suicidal.

Her excellent communication skills in very challenging circumstances, helped to calm down the distressed and aggressive man, allowing paramedic colleagues to assist him.

SC Clark has been described as a very knowledgeable and capable officer who carries out her duties with skill and professionalism.

She is seen pictured with Chief Superintendent Gillian MacDonald in this week's paper.

Sergeant Dougal, Constable McNulty and Constable Richmond were rewarded for the teamwork efforts.

They provided first aid to a young boy who had sustained burns to his feet in an accident on Troon beach and provided support to his distressed parents until medical help arrived.

Other colleagues recognised included the team of Intelligence Analysts who provide a vital service, taking on ambitious tasks with tight timescales and delivering a high quality service.

Two CID teams were awarded for their relentless dedication in bringing serial offenders to justice for a catalogue of serious crimes.

The team helped convict one man in connection with a complex child abuse enquiry and imprisoned another for more than 12 years for a series of domestic abuse and attacks on woman.

Congratulations to all the worthy award winners.
