FUNDING for housing developments across South Ayrshire will see a decrease in budget of over £3,500 which will affect the Lochside phase and other developments.

Finances of £20,374,000 for the 2015/2016 period were agreed by the council in December 2014. A higher budget of £21,530,454 was allocated for the 2016/17 period but this has been reduced to £17,879,224.

Less money will be spent on phases one and two of the Lochside projects and development work which has just begun on the Ayr Road flats in Prestwick.

Other construction and demolition projects in Monkton, Colmonell, Annbank and Ballantrae were discussed at a recent leadership panel on Tuesday, April 26 at South Ayrshire Council.

David Burns, head of housing and facilities, said: "Proposals have been developed over the last few months regarding flats in Prestwick as well as the continuing housing developments in Lochside."

Cllr Robin Reid said: "I am very happy with this report as it is a very good report."

Cllr Philip Saxton asked: "I want clarity on the reduction. Will work still be done in these areas. Could you tell me where we are with regards to the funding we have got?"

David Burns responded: "The report outlines how much money will be spent on housing projects in 2016/17 and where it will take place including Lochside.

"Other areas include substantial work in Prestwick, Monkton, Colmonell, Annbank, Ayr and Ballantrae."

Cllr Bill Grant added: "Can I just thank you for your hard work in refurbishing the Wallacetoun area. It is a small area but noticeable to those in the community."

Leader of the Council, Bill McIntosh, said: "Good progress has been made in both communities. Well done."
