AYR'S Tesco Extra has generously donated gift bags to the labour ward at University Hospital Crosshouse.

The donations, which are filled with toiletries and nightwear comes as a part of Tesco’s community partnership projects.

Terri Walker, Services Manager and Community Champion at Tesco Extra Ayr came up with the idea after speaking to her daughter, Laura, who works for Ayrshire Maternity Unit.

Speaking about the idea Terri commented: "We know that there can be times when mums come in to have their babies unexpectedly, or when they might not be able to bring toiletries or nightwear with them.

"We thought this might mean one less thing to do in those circumstances."

Attica Wheeler, Clinical Nurse Manager, Intrapartum Services wanted to express thanks to Tesco Extra Ayr.

She said: "On behalf of the labour suite, and the women who will benefit from this generous donation, I would like to say a huge thanks to Terri and Tesco Extra in Ayr for thinking of us as part of their community partnership projects.

"I am sure in emergency situations, women and their families will be very grateful to have one less thing to worry about."
