An Ayrshire College sport student from Monkton has nabbed an internship with South Ayrshire Active Schools.

Kelsey-Marie Adams, who studies HND Coaching and Developing Sport at the Skills Centre of Excellence, has been hired by SAC who aim to provide more opportunities for children to participate in school sport.

The 21-year-old cannot wait to start her new role, which has a focus on disability sports.

She said: "My lecturer Elizabeth Smith informed our class about the internship opportunity and straight away I asked for the application form.

"I had to do a presentation for a group subject, so I talked about a disability athletics club and how I could try to make it more available to children with disability. They soon rang me up and said I had the job.

"It’ll be my job to go into schools and promote the new club to the children. I’ve volunteered for Active Schools since 2012 and I love it. They’re a really nice group of people."

Kelsey-Marie will finish the internship in June and plans to go to university.
