A MAN  has appeared on petition charged with carrying out a robbery at the Tam’s Brig branch of Ladbrokes last month.

Shaun Wilson of Murray Street, Ayr appeared in private at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.

The 23-year-old appeared before Sheriff Montgomery on Wednesday, February 3 on two charges relating to the incident on January 18.

The accused was charged with robbing  a woman in the bookmakers of a three figure sum, with his face partially masked.

The second charge stated that he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner which was likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm as he was shouting, swearing and uttering threats of violence.

Mr Wilson made no declaration at this stage.

Sheriff Montgomery remanded the accused in custody for further examination.
He is expected to appear back in court next week for a full commital hearing.
