South Ayrshire Council’s newly refurbished toilets next to Ayr Pavilion, part of the Council’s £1 million pound investment in public toilets, are now open.

£482,000 has been invested in refurbishing the toilets which will be used by local people and visitors to the area.

South Ayrshire Provost Helen Moonie officially opened the newly refurbished toilets and said: “The newly refurbished toilet facilities are a significant improvement on what was here previously and will provide a first class service for local people and visitors.

“They will make a big difference to anyone spending time around Ayr beach and the Low Green.” Councillor John McDowall, Environment and Sustainability Portfolio Holder for the council said: “Our comprehensive improvement programme in various public toilets across South Ayrshire will ensure that our toilets are modern, fit for purpose and well equipped.

“I would like to thank everyone for their co-operation and patience while the work was being carried out.” In May 2014 the council approved the introduction of a charge of 30p from 1 July 2015 to use council toilets that had been refurbished or newly built.

The £1 million comprehensive improvement programme includes refurbishment of public conveniences at Ayr Pavilion, Arthur Street, Ayr, Blackburn Drive, Ayr, Dunure and Ballantrae. New facilities are being built at Barassie seafront, Girvan Harbour and Maybole.
