AMY McGowan found that it was sixth time lucky as she finally won Prestwick Academy's Talent Show.

The sixth year student had taken part in the contest every year since she started at the school and was placed three times but never chosen as top talent.

But she made up for it last week in the latest competition by wowing the audience and judges with a superb version of 'Don't Upset The Rhythm' and on singing her encore when her army of fans joined in.

After being voted number one she revealed that she prefers singing jazz-type music. but her version of Noisettes was so professional and gave Amy a taste for performing.

She said: "I hope to study business at university when I leave Prestwick Academy, but continue singing - maybe in 'unsigned band' events but I would hope be involved in music." On the judges' panel were teachers, Mr Gibson, Mrs Yancouskie and Mrs Miller and they had a tough job choosing a winner.

Chris Houston was one of the hosts, along with David Wells and Samantha Haggo, and said that the show was 'the best ever' with a promise to make next years bigger and better.

The acts were - Marc Evans and Jamie Allanach; Heather Clyne; Broken Guitar; Debra Nimmo; Tasmin and Brooke; Robert Kilmurray; Sam Barker; Amy McGowan; Andrew and the Lepers; Kirsty; The Peacekeepers featuring DJ Avalanche and Kiera McCambridge.

It was organised by the Off-the-Record enterprise team from the school with a CD being released that will see all profits going to the Shelter charity and the school funds.
