LAST minute pleas to scrap branch-axe plans have also been coming in fast and thick from our readers.

And here is what same of them had to say during the last week on our online petition:

Antony Parsons: 'The government won"t be happy until it has completely destroyed rural life forcing people to move into larger towns this is exactly what Russia did forcing people into centralised communities it was wrong then and its wrong now.'

Melissa Bailey: 'It saddens and angers me greatly at this constant erosion of our local communities. These decisions are made by people who have no understanding of rural life, nor do they care to understand.
