A FURTHER £10,000 has been pledged to the Jessica Appeal by members of Troon’s Round Table in a bid to get her the lifesaving treatment.

The welcome boost comes from a special fund of monies bequested to Round Table to help in situations where Troon residents are in desperate need of assistance.

The money takes the Findlay family even closer to the £100,000 mark after we revealed last week that a suspected £80,000 has already been raised.

Member Douglas Hervey spoke about the money: “We sincerely hope that our pledge goes a long way to helping Jessica on her life-saving journey.”

Troon’s Round Table has played an important role in the local community. The organisation is aimed at young men aged upto 45 who want to contribute to their community.

In total £400,000 to £500,000 is needed for Jessica to receive the surgery in America and residents of South Ayrshire and beyond have already given an astounding amount.

Speaking about the money raised, Rachel said: “I just can’t believe how much has been raised and given, it’s been really fantastic and now we know Jessica is soon to have the surgery it’s all coming.

“So a massive thank you to everyone.”

The surgery is needed since Jessica suffers from an extremely rare disease that has narrowed all her arteries and now her heart and lungs are failing. Dr Frank Hanley from California’s Lucile Childrens Hospital has agreed to let her undergo the experimental surgery. Because of the condition Jessica has a slight blue tinge to her skin and because it’s in an American hospital there are high costs, but it’s Jessica’s only chance of survival.

Douglas added: “We are always keen to hear from people who would like to know more about the organisation, or who are interested in joining. Troon Round Table needs younger members to become involved in the organisation to ensure the service to the local community can continue in the years to come.”
