Coffee morning brews up impressive £340
By Roisin McGroarty
AN amazing 12-year-old boy raised hundreds of pounds by creating a coffee morning - in a week.
Harry Martin was so moved by the story of little Jessica that he decided to organise the funding day after taking part in one at his former primary school - raising over £343.
Harry said: “The day was really good, it went quite well and there was a lot of people that turned up.
“It was really great that people took the time out to do that and help us raise the money.”
Visitors were treated a range of scrumptious delights including homemade cakes and fruit juices.
Marr College pupil Harry was helped by a number of his friends and family, with his mother Jennifer and grandparents Louise and George Trapp in the kitchen putting out the teas and coffee’s at Troon’s Portland Church hall. He continued: “I only had about a week and three days to organise it but I quite like organising. It wasn’t a lot of hassle but it wouldn’t really have mattered if it was as it was worth it.
“My mum says she is really quite proud of me.”
While indulging in the coffee morning delights people were treated to some soothing music from young violinist Natalie Smith and also got the chance to win shopping and hairdressing vouchers in the raffle, with prizes donated from a host of local businesses.
Harry added: “A big thank you to everyone that came and I hope everyone will enjoy their raffle presents.
“Also a big thank you to Morrison’s for donating the coffee, tea and sugar, to Kirsty’s Flowers for the plants and daffodils and to all who supplied the raffle gifts.”
The youngster has now added the money to the Jessica Appeal.
