Troon youth centre hand over cheque
By Roisin McGroarty
GENEROUS youngsters at Troon Youth Centre where Jessica’s mum used to play have handed over £100 to the child’s appeal.
Kids at the centre collected all their 50p entrance and tuck-shop money to try and save little Jessica.
Jeanette Miller, who helps run the centre, said: “They decided on this all by themselves and the club just put a little in at the end to round it up to £100.”
When Rachel was a teen she attended the centre and last week she came back, this time with Jessica, to say a big thank you to the kids.
Jeanette continued: “All the kids loved Jessica being there, she was such good fun. She joined in some of the games and was even learning some brake dancing with Barry Kane and was playing some pool - she was great.”
The club have even given Jessica an open invitation to come at any time.
Jeanette added: “I would just like to give a big thank you to Rachel and Jessica for giving up their time and coming to the club.
“It’s a team effort at the club with all the youth leaders and a lot of the kids who attended have also taken part in fundraising activities at their school on behalf of the appeal.
“Everyone had a really great time when Jessica came.”
