Carrick defence secures win

Carrick travelled to Scotstoun and withstood strong Hyndland pressure for the first ten minutes of the game with excellent defensive work building confidence in the Carrick ranks.
In the next 20 minutes Hugh Smith kicked three penalties followed in 35 minutes by Gary Thomson breaking from halfway and powering over under the posts.
Hugh Smith added the conversion points and Just before half time the Hyndland stand off kicked a penalty to make the score 16 - 3 to the visitors at the break.
Early in the second half Eddie Dalrymple Hamilton scored an unconverted try to increase the Carrick lead.
Then the home team came back into the game and scored a converted try, then with the last play of the game, scored another converted try, to further reduce the deficit and earn a losing bonus point.
Carrick now need to win all three of their remaining games and pick up one bonus point to ensure promotion in second place in the league.
On Saturday Carrick travel to Mid Argyll with a 3pm kick off.
