Model reaches semi-final stages
A TROON model could take on the world later this year after qualifying in the semi-finals of Miss Earth 2009.
Stunning Heather Weir, who has been modelling for two years, clocked up the latest success in her career when she was second in a competition run by Nuts magazine.
Presented by top model Michelle Marsh, the contest attracted beauties from all over Britain and even the judges found it difficult to pick out the best.
Heather said: 'It seemed that the judges had a little tiff, but when I went backstage after the contest one of them offered me a contract with M8 magazine, which I accepted.
'It is good news all round as I will also be on stage during the Homecoming Festival at Irvine Bay in May, as well as the miss Earth competition which is the third biggest beauty contest in the world.'
The bg date in Heather"s diary is Sunday, May 3 when she will line up against the other hopefuls in the 29 Club, Royal Exchange Square, Glasgow for the regional semi-finals.
At stake is a place in the national final, also taking place in Glasgow in July, that grants the winner the opportunity to grace the global stage in November.
Representing Troon and South Ayrshire is a source of pride for Heather, who is offering a local business the chance to sponsor her and have their name on her sash.
