FINGERS are remaining crossed that Ayr could see another top celebrity - in the form of a local cat.

While a wide host of stars already hail for the town, from Burns to the MacDonald Brothers, feline Alley and her owner Anne Howie are hoping 2009 will be their year.

Anne has entered Alley into Purina"s One in a Million competition which could see her named the national face of Purina One 2009.

Speaking about their chances Anne said: 'Alley loves having her picture taken and looks great on camera, so it would be very exciting if she was chosen as the winner. Alley just loves Purina One. Since changing Alley"s diet to it, the difference I"ve seen in her has been really significant, she is full of life! Her coat is shinier, her eyes are brighter and she is more active.'

Purina One is also searching to find dog that exudes health and looks visibly different after eating Purina One complete dog food.

Well-known animal photographer Nick Ridley said: 'Healthy pets have high energy levels and if an animal has vitality and a zest for life it really comes through on camera. The eyes are the focal point of any picture so the healthier your pet, the brighter their eyes, which makes for a more engaging picture.'

If Alley wins she will not only become a famous face across the nation by starring in Purina"s One 2009 advertising campaign but she will also receive a professional photo shoot and a year"s supply of Purina One to ensure they retain their tip top condition. Anne will benefit, winning a luxury weekend break.

The competition closes on New Year"s eve when judges will decided whether Alley has got what it takes or not.
